About Me
Hi, I’m Ashlan.
I’m a sourdough baker turned slow-living homeschool mom who believes that some of the best things in life take time—bread included.
What started as baking sourdough for my family and community slowly grew into a love for all things from-scratch living. Over the years, I’ve learned how much beauty there is in simple routines: feeding a starter, collecting eggs, teaching my kids around the kitchen table, and choosing a life that feels rooted instead of rushed.
I’m no stranger to full days, messy kitchens, and plans that don’t always go as expected. I’ve baked hundreds of loaves, taught sourdough classes, raised chickens, and learned to balance home, work, and homeschooling—often all at once.
This space is where I share what I’m learning along the way:
Sourdough bread and approachable recipes
Homesteading rhythms (even without acres of land)
Chicken keeping for real life
Homeschooling from a place of peace, not pressure
Encouragement for slow, intentional living
My hope is that this blog feels like sitting at the table with a friend—encouraging, practical, and rooted in grace. Whether you’re baking your first loaf, dreaming of a simpler home, or just looking for inspiration, you are so welcome here.
Thanks for being here. I’m so glad you found your way to our little corner of the internet.
